Der Kieler Hafen hat für Fährverbindungen nach Skandinavien wie auch Kreuzfahrten nach Nordeuropa gleichermaßen eine hohe Bedeutung.

Im Hafen befinden sich drei Terminals (Ostseekai, Schwedenkai, Norwegenkai), von denen primär der Ostseekai von Kreuzfahrtschiffen genutzt wird.
